Ottawa Senators send rookie forward Mika Zibanejad back to Sweden
Mika Zibanejad is heading home. The Ottawa Senators decided to send their first-round draft pick to Swedish club team Djurgardens rather than burn the first year of his entry-level contract. Zibanejad appeared in nine games for the Senators this season, registering one assist and a minus-3 rating.

Ottawa - Oct. 26, 2011 - Mika Zibanejad is heading home.

The Ottawa Senators decided to send their first-round draft pick to Swedish club team Djurgardens rather than burn the first year of his entry-level contract.

Zibanejad appeared in nine games for the Senators this season, registering one assist and a minus-3 rating.

The 18-year-old from Stockholm was selected sixth overall by Ottawa in June.

Zibanejad will now be eligible to represent his country at the world junior championship in Alberta.
