Cornwall Colts down Kemptville to improve to a perfect 11-0
The Cornwall Colts secured a 5-2 victory on home ice Thursday against the Kemptville 73’s to improve to a perfect 11-0 on the season. The game was played at the Cornwall Civic Complex in front of 1,003 fans. After a scoreless first period, Colts’ defenceman Brandon Howes opened the scoring at 15:10 of the second period.

Cornwall - Oct. 7, 2011 - The Cornwall Colts secured a 5-2 victory on home ice Thursday against the Kemptville 73’s to improve to a perfect 11-0 on the season. The game was played at the Cornwall Civic Complex in front of 1,003 fans.

After a scoreless first period, Colts’ defenceman Brandon Howes opened the scoring at 15:10 of the second period. There was no further scoring until Josh Pitt from Kemptville tied it at one apiece midway through the third.

Michael Borkowski and Connor Primeau each scored to give Cornwall a 3-1 lead before Pitt tallied his second of the game to narrow the lead to 3-2. Mark Hough and Mark Rath each scored shorthanded, empty-net goals to seal the victory.

Cornwall outshot Kemptville 38-35 and the game saw a total of 35 minutes in penalties, including a boarding major and game misconduct to Howes at 7:14 of the third period. The three stars were Borkowski (1st), Colts’ Michael Comitini (2nd),and Kemptville’s Travis Wlkins (3rd)

The Colts next see action on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Smiths Falls to take on 3-7 Bears.
