Danny The Doctor Johnson wins Big Block show at Speedway
One of the biggest events of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the visit of the Big Block Super DIRTcar Series with a 100-lap feature event. In the end, Danny 'The Doctor' Johsnon came away with the checkered flag in front of a huge crowd at the Cornwall dirt oval.

Cornwall - Jul. 4, 2011 - One of the biggest events of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the visit of the Big Block Super DIRTcar Series with a 100-lap feature event. All the big stars of DIRTcar were in Cornwall, the Pro-Stock, Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock shared the spotlight on Home Hardware of Alexandria night.

Jimmy Phelps and Billy Decker were on the front row of the 30-car field of the 100-lap Super DIRTcar Series feature race. Phelps took the early lead with Sheppard and Pat O’Brien behind him. Yellow flags counted for the first 75 laps of the feature. Sheppard took the opportunity of a caution to grab the lead on a restart on lap 8 with Billy Decker now in third. Brian McDonald brought the field together on lap 10 as he stopped outside of turn four. The green lights came back on lap 14 with the top three remained unchanged as the O’Brien brothers in battle for fourth spot with Danny having the advantage over Pat. Sheppard got into heavy traffic with 22 laps down as Phelps is right on his back bumper. Danny Johnson used this condition to crack the top five on lap 30. One lap later, Steve Bernard brought the caution. Sheppard still in front as Pat O’Brien went too high and lost 18 spots. The leaders got back with slower cars with 45 laps in the books. Bruno Lepage stopped in turn two and the yellow came out on lap 47. The halfway point was reached on the yellow; Sheppard, Phelps, Danny O’Brien, Decker and Danny Johnson were the top five. Sheppard had another strong start on lap 52. Local drivers Laurent Ladouceur and Luke Whitteker had good runs and were in the top 10. The top five got closer as they reached slower cars with 35 laps to go. Johnson was using the low lane and was able to move up to second on lap 69 and moved closer to Sheppard. The bottom lane worked for him as he took the lead on lap 72. Danny O’Brien was back in third as he passed Phelps on lap 74. O’Brien was strong on top and took second over Sheppard with 25 laps to go. O’Brien got closer to Johnson with 85 laps in. With five laps to go, Johnson was still the leader with O’Brien, Sheppard, Decker and Phelps. O’Brien made a late charge at the end but was not able to pass Johnson. Johnson went on to win his 69th Super DIRTcar feature win over O’Brien by 1-10 of a second with Sheppard completing the podium. Decker, Phelps, Gary Tomkins, Carey Terrance, Yan Bussière, Justin Haers and Rob Bellinger completed the top ten.

Gilles Godard and Sean Johnson battled for the top spot in the 20-lap Pro-Stock feature race. Johnson looped his car in turn two and lost his second spot. Godard in front over Dion Oakes in second, George Renaud third, Gaetan Amesse and Corey Wheeler completed the top five at the halfway point. Joey Ladouceur cracked the top five on lap 11 after being 21st. Ladouceur charged to the lead on lap 14 by using the inside lane. Ladouceur led the final laps to win his fourth feature of the season in front of Godard and Oakes took the third step of the podium.

In the 15-lap Semi-Pro feature, Junior Delormier took the lead with Kevin McRae in second. Wes Bilmer took second of McRae on lap three with Benoit Dubois now in fourth. Dubois was strong and took third and challenged the new leader in Bilmer with 10 laps to go. Dubois grabbed the lead just before the caution came out on lap six. Newcomer Beau Miller made his way through the pack from 16th and took second on the seventh lap. Dubois, Miller and Derek Cryderman the top three with only five laps to complete the feature as Andrew Giroux made a late charge at the end and challenged Cryderman for third. Dubois was able to resist to a late challenge to win his second in a row over Miller and Cryderman.

In the 12-lap Mini-Stock feature race, Mike Gaucher took the lead as battle occurred in the back for top five positions. Points leader Ernie Cree made his way through the pack and took second from Marc Usereau at the halfway point. Gaucher led the entire the feature to win the race over Cree and Ben Nurse.
