PMO requiring the RCMP to vet news through their office is over the line
What set me off this time is the news that the control freaks in the PMO are now requiring the RCMP to vet news releases through their office for approval. The power of the PMO and Stephen Harper is way over the line and we have to do something to get the action back to the local ridings.

Cornwall - Nov. 27, 2011 - Will somebody tell me what's going on when a person coaches a team for however long and people call them "coach" for the rest of their lives? This came to mind again when that freak at Penn State was charged and somebody referred to him as coach. What's that about?

  • Big fuss about a Toronto reporter calling James Reimer's mother. When the Leafs and others called them out on it the press got downright indignate about it saying things like we have a duty (and right) to investigate to serve the public. They are right because they say they broke no rules. Well, if there are no standards or code of conduct worth talking about how can they be called out. The National Enquirer and the Murdoch papers in Britain are cases in point - slease is slease.

  • Watched the Vanier Cup from Vancouver - double overtime 41-38 - McMaster over Laval, may be the best game I have seen. It was good enough to keep me up until 12:45am.

  • I watch a lot of sports and political panel discussions but PLEASE give the moderators a mute button so that we are listening to one at a time. They spend so much time stepping on each other, I start thinking I have tuned in on the View.

  • So the marketing boards seem like they are on the table (again) sounds serious this time. Every time this comes up it takes me back to a golf game many years ago (mid 90's) with a senior union leader who knew that I had serious reservations about what they actually did for their members. During the course of the talk he mentioned that unions had spent the last decade or so giving things back to the the companies "to save their jobs". Question - did you see any change at the till. No way - jobs went off shore prices stayed the same or higher and exec packages went nuts. So ask yourself - if high tarrifs are removed will you and I feel the love? My guess is no - just the money will go to someone besides the farmer.

    RANTS
I have to mention that the people close to me are saying I seem to be leaning left and "I thought you were Conservative".

Well I have been "blue" but I have never been a supporter of the Reformers and won't, so that makes me a neuter, I guess. I think that whole left-right thing is crap anyway because by those guidelines I can go pretty far right on some stuff and left on others.

What set me off this time is the news that the control freaks in the PMO are now requiring the RCMP to vet news releases through their office for approval. That Mr Harper makes them the STATE POLICE and we all know there are other countries around the world who have 'state police' - You have finally gone too far.

The power of the PMO is way over the line and we have to do something to get the action back to the local ridings.

A thought - If we allowed the caucus to pick their leader - like they do in England - the leaders would be beholding to caucus and caucus would be directly accountable to the riding. Then politics would be local again. That system works just ask Margaret Thatcher!

See you in the New Year! Merry Christmas and keep smiling.
