Cornwall - Oct. 18, 2011 - Tim Archer camped in front of Cornwall City Hall for one entire week obtaining signatures for a petition to get a homeless shelter in the City. His campaign coincides with World Homeless Day. The purpose of World Homeless Day is to draw attention to homeless people’s needs locally and provide opportunities for the community to get involved in responding to homelessness.

Archer explains, "I was once homeless myself". He wants to bring awareness of this issue to the public and to politicians. The cold wet weather did not deter Archer. He managed to obtain well over five hundred signatures, including signatures from former Liberal Candidate Mark A MacDonald, City Councillor and former NDP Candidate Elaine MacDonald, and City Councillors Bernadette Clement and Maurice Dupelle.
