Canada is well placed to capitalize on an emerging world demand for agricultural products
Here in Canada we are blessed with a resource rich country. One of our country's greatest resources is our fertile soil. We are also fortunate to enjoy a climate that allows us to be a world leader in the production and quality of our agricultural products. Canadian agricultural products are known around the world as being of the highest quality. The safety of our agricultural products is second to none.

Cornwall - May 29, 2012 - Here in Canada we are blessed with a resource rich country. One of our country's greatest resources is our fertile soil. We are also fortunate to enjoy a climate that allows us to be a world leader in the production and quality of our agricultural products. Canadian agricultural products are known around the world as being of the highest quality. The safety of our agricultural products is second to none.

And this is not accidental. Our farmers have invested a lot of time and money in improving their yields and the quality of the food they produce. Canadian farmers are better educated, better equipped and more efficient and innovative than farmers anywhere in the world. Our national economy is reaping the benefits of this strong growing industry.

Right here in SD&SG our farmers are among the best of the best. Our farmers have over 250 years of agricultural experience behind them. Our riding has always been blessed with great land and even greater people to work it. SD&SG was settled by farmers. They cleared the land, used the trees to build their homes and barns and planted crops to feed their families and their animals. They laid the groundwork for future generations.

Now, thanks to our agricultural ancestors and the tremendous progress the Canadian agricultural sector has made, our country and our riding is well placed to capitalize on an emerging world demand for agricultural products. Countries around the world are looking to Canada to help solve their increasing demand for food. After many lean years, the next ten years should be a decade of tremendous and well deserved success for our farmers. Experts tell us world demand for Canadian agricultural products is expected to soar over the next decade. Prices are also predicted to rise. Bring it on!
