Cornwall - Jan. 27, 2012 - Derek Foster was at the Cornwall Public Library on Monday, telling the story of how, through investments, he retired at only 34 years old. Foster is a 6-time National Bestselling author with titles like The Lazy Investor: Start With $50 and No Investment Knowledge and STOP WORKING: Here’s How You Can under his belt. Using his simple investment rules, Foster has found a way to make enough money to support himself, his wife and his five children. Now, he writes to give the masses advice on how they can do the same thing.

“Think of companies you hate, like the bank. Things you use every day, that you’ll never stop using. For example, you’ll never stop brushing your teeth. So companies like Colgate are perfect.” Foster says. The room was full of excited listeners of all ages, eager to learn the secret to retiring early. Foster explained his process in layman’s terms, making sure that everyone understood before moving to the next topic.

“I try to look at what people are asking me about a lot. Once I have a topic a lot of people want to know more about, I know that’s something I should write about that people will want to read.” Foster explains the process with which he goes about picking a new topic to write about.

Derek Foster is a down-to-earth, everyday guy who tells it how it is, and doesn’t pander to the normal investment methods. He writes a free newsletter full of helpful articles. He also has his articles archived on his website so that readers can go back if they’ve missed previous newsletters.

Foster’s books are available for purchase from his website, and from Chapters/Indigo retailers. For more information, or to purchase his books, visit his website StopWorking.ca
