Local golfers can register for Great Waterway Classic Qualifiers
Local golfers can sign up Thursday night (April 19) at the Upper Canada Golf Course between 7 pm and 8 pm to play in qualifying tournaments for the newly established Great Waterway Classic, a major Canadian Professional Men’s Golf Tour tournament, which begins in 2012 and will run through 2015.

Cornwall - April 15, 2012 - Local golfers can sign up Thursday night (April 19) at the Upper Canada Golf Course between 7 pm and 8 pm to play in qualifying tournaments for the newly established Great Waterway Classic, a major Canadian Professional Men’s Golf Tour tournament, which begins in 2012 and will run through 2015.

The qualifying tournaments are called “Chase the Dream” which will serve as a stepping stone for a few lucky golfers who can earn an exemption into the Great Waterway Classic. The low four scores from each event will qualify those golfers to play in a final round at Smuggler's Glen in Gananoque, Ontario on August 26th - the site of the 2012 inaugural Great Waterway Classic to be held September 3rd to 9th. The first three golfers in that late August competition will then be fully exempted for the Great Waterway Classic Golf Tournament.

Starting in 2012, the Great Waterway Classic will have a four-year rotation at golf courses in Eastern Ontario. In 2013, the Upper Canada Golf Course in Morrisburg, Ontario will host the event, followed by the Loyalist Country Golf Club in 2014; and finally the Black Bear Ridge Golf Course in 2015.

As a lead up to this year’s Great Waterway Classic, tournament director David Dargie, Evolution Golf CEO Martin Noe, and Chase the Dream Director Oliver Noe will be at the following golf courses to register players for the qualifying tournaments and explain more about the Canadian Tour event that is being sponsored by The Great Waterway Ontario Tourism Region: eQuinelle Golf Club (April 10), Loyalist Country Club (April 11), Smuggler's Glen (April 16), Brockville Country Club (April 17), and Upper Canada Golf Course (April 19).
