SHORT SHIFT - Mike Miller Retires From Broadcast Booth
Mike Miller, the radio play-by-play voice of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, has called it a career. In a press release issued by the team, Miller cites "a voice and vocal disorder from overuse that currently limits his ability to execute play-by-play at a high level" as the reason for his decision. His AM800 broadcast partner Frank Dayus will continue alongside Steve Bell, another familiar voice who is no stranger to fans of Spitfire hockey.

Windsor - March 4, 2019 - Mike Miller, the radio play-by-play voice of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, has called it a career. In a press release issued by the team, Miller cites "a voice and vocal disorder from overuse that currently limits his ability to execute play-by-play at a high level" as the reason for his decision. Through his eleven seasons covering the Spitfires the congenial broadcaster called over 800 games as well as three Memorial Cup and two OHL championships. Prior to joining the Spits, Miller was the radio voice of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, calling Stanley Cup championships in 1995 and 2000.

During Sunday’s game between the Spits and Kingston Frontenacs, the team honoured Miller for his contributions to Spitfires hockey. His AM800 broadcast partner Frank Dayus will continue alongside Steve Bell, another familiar voice who is no stranger to fans of Spitfire hockey. HometownHockey.ca wishes Miller a long, happy and healthy retirement.
