Windsor - March 27, 2017 - On Monday, the Toronto Maple Leafs recalled goaltender Garret Sparks and Right Winger Kasperi Kapanen from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. Starting goaltender Frederik Andersen left Saturday's game against the Buffalo Sabres with an upper body injury. Forward Nikita Soshnikov was injured a few games ago against the Boston Bruins.

Sparks is 18-7 with the Marlies with a .927 save percentage. Sparks was suspended earlier in the season and is likely most remembered for earning a shutout against the Edmonton Oilers in his NHL debut last season.

Kapanen has had a good run with the Marlies after being drafted 22nd overall in the 2014 draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He would later be traded to the Leafs as part of the Phill Kessel deal. He has 18 goals and 43 points in 43 games with the Marlies.
