Sep. 9, 2012: Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv disaster. One year ago yesterday, a plane carrying the Yaroslavl Lokomotiv team to their first KHL game of the year crashed violently into the Volga River, killing 44 people, 37 players and coaches and 7 crew members. Apr. 28, 2012: This year the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has introduced a new format for the World Hockey Championship. Previous versions had teams split into four groups, with the top three teams in each group qualifying for the second round. Feb. 10, 2012: Chris Phillips and Jason Spezza each scored a pair of goals as the Ottawa Senators beat the Nashville Predators 4-3 to stop the Senators losing streak at seven games. Feb. 8, 2012: David Perron scored a pair of goals and Brian Elliot made a triumphant return to Ottawa, making 28 saves as the St. Louis Blues beat the Ottawa Senators 3-1 at Scotiabank Place tonight.
