Colts bounce back with solid effort in Game 2
The Colts evened up the CCHL Finals at 1-1 with a convincing 3-0 win over Pembroke on Wednesday night.

Cornwall - Apr. 6, 2011 - The Colts got just what they needed on Wednesday night - a bounceback win.

After losing 2-0 to Pembroke on Sunday night, the Colts turned the tables on the Lumber Kings as they skated to a 3-0 win in Game 2 of the CCHL Finals at the Cornwall Civic Complex.

With the win, the Colts have evened up the best-of-seven series at one game apiece, and Game 3 will go Friday night in Pembroke.

The Colts got off to a strong start on Wednesday night as Sean Blunden scored a little over a minute into the first period, on the first shot of the game.

Tyson Spink extended the lead to two goals midway through the first period, and the score would remain that way until halfway through the second frame when Ty Perry got a lucky goal on a strange bounce off of Pembroke goalie Francis Dupuis.

The contest - played before an announced crowd of 1,724 - was a tight-checking affair, with only a handful of shots on net through the first 15 minutes of play.

The Colts fired 26 shots at Dupuis, while Pete Karvouniaris turned aside all 21 shots from the Lumber Kings to record the shutout.

The excited home crowd may have provided some extra incentive for the Colts as they put up a solid effort at both ends of the rink.

They also managed to prevent the vaunted Lumber Kings power play from connecting on five attempts. Cornwall, meanwhile, was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Game 4 of the series will go Monday night in Cornwall (7:30 p.m.) and Game 5 will be back in Pembroke on Wednesday night. Games 6 and 7, if needed, will be played next Thursday and Saturday in Cornwall and Pembroke respectively.
