Colts begin post-season journey tonight against Kanata
Members of the Cornwall Colts salute the fans at the Cornwall Civic Complex at the end of their last regular season game on Saturday. The Colts will be looking to build on a solid regular season when they open their first-round playoff series with Kanata tonight.

Cornwall - Mar. 9, 2011 - It was a regular season to remember for the Colts - 48 wins, a lengthy win streak, a new team scoring record from Jacob Laliberte and a new league record for goalie wins set by Pete Karvouniaris.

Now the big question is, will it be a playoffs to remember as well?

The answer to that question will begin to unfold tonight as the Colts open their first-round Central Hockey League playoff series against the Kanata Stallions.

The Colts, who finished second overall, are the clear favourites heading into the series against the seventh-seeded Stallions.

Cornwall won four of the five regular season encounters against Kanata, and the Colts also posted the lowest goals-against record in the league (140 on the season).

The Colts also have three of the league's top scorers in Jacob Laliberte and the Spink twins, and they're sure to get a lot of attention from the Stallions.

On the other side, the Stallions have a good number of offensively-minded players, and the Colts will have to pay attention to the likes of Kyle Rankin, Brent Bisdee and Ryan Donnelly.

Game 1 gets underway tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the civic complex, with Game 2 going tomorrow night in Kanata. Game 3 will be back in Cornwall on Sunday at 7 p.m., while Game 4 will go Tuesday in Kanata. If necessary, Games 5, 6 and 7 will be played on March 17, 18 and 20.

In other Colts news, Laliberte was named the league's most valuable player while Karvouniaris was named the top goaltender and Youseff Kabbaj was named the league's outstanding defenceman.
