Cornwall - Feb. 21, 2011 - It was a Family Day to forget for the Cornwall Colts as they fell a goal short against the Carleton Place Canadians, losing 4-3.

The Monday afternoon loss marked the second straight setback for the Colts, who now sit one point behind Pembroke in the overall league standings.

Things started out good for the Colts as they outshot Carleton Place 14-6 in the first frame and went ahead on goals from Jacob Laliberte and Kyle Baun. Nic Pascoal connected for the Canadians to cut hold the Colts' lead to one.

The opposite was true in the middle frame as Carleton Place outshot the Colts 24-6 and tied the game up with a goal from Tanner Hildbrandt.

Cornwall got ahead early in the third period as Laliberte connected for his second of the contest, but the home team stormed back with a pair of goals from Richard Stethem and Brock Edwards to claim the victory.

Things won't get any easier for the Colts as they welcome the Pembroke Lumber Kings to the Cornwall Civic Complex on Thursday (7:30 p.m.). The match will almost certainly determine who finishes first overall in the regular season and who gets the top seed for the playoffs.

"It will be huge," Colts head coach Ian MacInnis tells OurHometown.ca.
