Colts bounce back with big win over 73s
Colts forward Kyle Baun moves in on Kemptville goalie Kyle Lamothe during Central Hockey League action Thursday at the Cornwall Civic Complex. The Colts won the game 6-2.

Cornwall - Feb. 3, 2011 - The Colts returned to their winning ways on Thursday night with a convincing 6-2 win over the visiting Kemptville 73s.

Forward Tyson Spink notched two goals to help lead the Colts past the 73s, snapping a two-game losing streak in the process.

For Michael Rowbotham, the contest marked his first match against his former team, but the new Colt - who was acquired at the trade deadline - didn't get to enjoy it for very long.

On his very first shirt - less than one minute into the game - Rowbotham checked one of his former teammates into the boards, and he was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct, forcing him to watch the rest of the game from the stands.

Rowbotham's exit didn't seem to hurt the Colts, as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Spink and Billy Ulrick. Brandon Lesway responded for the 73s in the final minutes of the first frame.

The middle frame was owned by the Colts, as they outshot Kemptville 17-5 and extended their lead to 4-1 on goals from Mitch Zion and Jacob Laliberte.

Spink and Cody Sarmiento cemented things for the Colts in the third period, while Andrew Upshall added one more to the scoreboard for Kemptville.

The Colts will look to build on the win tonight when they travel to Hawkesbury to face the Hawks.
